My 3 Bites column for the August issue of PHOENIX Magazine is titled “Brrracing Noodles.”
I feature an utterly fantastic, spicy Sichuan noodle dish from Chou’s Kitchen (above), a green tea soba noodle dish from Clever Koi, and for those not so sure about digging into a solid bowl of cold noodles, a “training wheels” version at Kale & Clover that mixes lettuce, veggies and multi-grain noodles dressed in citrus and a splash of soy.
Read details about all three heat-relief dishes over on PHOENIX Magazine.
On a side note, this is my last 3 Bites column. I’ve really enjoyed writing about some killer dishes from local restaurants over the past couple of years, but I’ve given up the column so I can take on other writing projects. From now on you’ll see Marilyn Hawkes’ byline on 3 Bites. She also writes the Veg Out column.
I’m still writing the monthly Local Product column and I’m contributing to other food-centric issues, including the upcoming “Best of the Valley” issue in October, and the “Best New Restaurants” issue in November. With any luck, I’ll land another cover story, like the Ultimate Mexican Food Guide I did for the May issue, and the Italian Food guide the year before. And the Asian Food Guide the year before that and Cheap Eats before that. So I’m still covering the Phoenix food scene and, heading into my eighth year of writing for PHOENIX Magazine, still honored to do so.
