The publishers of the quarterly Sun Valley Magazine, a luxury lifestyle publication covering Sun Valley, Ketchum and Hailey, in the picturesque Wood River Valley in central Idaho, launched a new quarterly magazine in Boise last December, called Territory.
Boise is hot. It’s home to Boise State University. The downtown area is exploding with new construction: hotels, bars, breweries, wineries, restaurants, and office space. Boise, according to Forbes, is one of the top 20 fastest growing U.S. cities in 2017. (Boise was number 11; Phoenix tied with Las Vegas for number 16.)
I’ve had the privilege to write food stories for Sun Valley Magazine since 2014.
For the inaugural issue of Territory, I contributed three articles:
- Garden City: a once-controversial city-within-a-city with Chinese farming roots, now teaming with breweries and urban wineries.
- Not your sister’s cosmo: a round-up of cool, culinary-based cocktails in Downtown Boise.
- The story of a long-running Basque restaurant with deep roots in the old country.

Boise is a super cool small city. Hope you get the chance to check it out someday. In the meantime, get to know the capital of Idaho through the pages of the brand new glossy Territory magazine.
